OSUは、自然が豊かなキャンパスがあり、そこで行われる研究活動や、学生生活がさかんである印象をうけました。OSUでの滞在のなかで、とくに印象深かったのは、聴講させていただいた障害に関する講義です。講義は、障害を学んでいる学生が、それぞれ持ち寄った文献の内容をまとめ発表し、質疑応答を行うというものでした。私は、大学院で障害科学を専攻していることもあり、OSUにおける、大学や国籍、バックグラウンドの異なる学生の障害研究への多様な視点を学ぶことができ、とても興味深い内容でした。また、ひとりの教授のもとで、学生が幅広い手段で研究していることも、印象に残っています。研究の目的に合わせて、方法を選択し実践できるという研究者像は、私自身が、これから研究を行なっていく上で目指していきたい姿であると感じました。OSUや筑波大学の先生方をはじめ、多様な学生の方々との交流は、毎日がとても刺激的であり、たくさんの新しい経験をすることができました。
I got the impression that the campus of OSU is rich in nature, and the research activities and student life are actively taking place in the environment. In particular, the lectures on disability at OSU were memorable to me. In the lecture, students who are studying disability summarized and made presentations about the contents of the documents they had read and moved on to the question-and-answer session. As I am a graduate student majoring in disability science, it was very interesting to learn about the diverse perspectives on disability research of students from different universities, nationalities, and backgrounds. Furthermore, I was also impressed by the fact that students’ research methods are wide ranged under one professor. As a researcher, I would like to pursue those attitudes, selecting and implementing methods based on the research purpose. The visit to OSU was very stimulating and provided me with many new experiences every day. I appreciate the professors and students of both OSU and University of Tsukuba supporting me to have this opportunity.
