I decided to study abroad on impulse because I was so excited when I heard that I could study abroad as a freshman. However, before leaving, I was very worried about whether I could communicate well with the local people. I thought I might accomplish nothing and return home.
Actually, I experienced the moments I couldn’t understand what people were saying or keep up with my classes during my study abroad. However, the local people were very kind. They spoke to me with smiles, even though I could only speak simple English. Thanks to them, I was able to learn about various cultures, make friends from different backgrounds, and enjoy many delicious local foods and fun places.
The most memorable thing of my communication with the local people was the classes we developed a new spacecraft in a group. At first, I was worried about my English ability and lack of knowledge, but my teammates were very kind. When I told them that I wanted to join their group, they accepted me willingly. They actively included me in the team although I couldn’t participate much due to my lack of ability. Thanks to their kindness, even though I was not good at English, I could learn the structure and the development process of spacecraft. I am truly glad that I joined their team.
Through studying abroad, I was able to communicate with kind people and gain new knowledge. At the same time, I realized that I need to study English more in order to talk about many things with them.
Finally, if you are thinking about studying abroad at OSU, you should try it. OSU is not only a great place to learn, but also a place where people have warm hearts. Your experience of studying abroad will be worthwhile surely.
