2025 Exchange Program: OSU Travel Report②

What I was most impressed thing during my stay in Ohio in March is how poor my English level such as my slow reaction speed. (listening and speaking).

I have studied English for 8 years and also, I started to focus on English from last March but still I could understand only 40% for what OSU professors said. This is more than I had expected before. During my stay, I had felt so many positive things (such as OSU has so large campus area), but that negative and stressful thing have occupied my mind after I returned back to Japan. However, one important point changed my mind after a few days of my stay. It is that in my life, I have studied almost all thing in Japanese, and it is obviously difficult to become such a high English level in a short term (only 1 year). So, if I continue to learn almost all things in English and to speak English with international students in dairy life, I can improve the rate from 40% to 80% after 2 or 3 years. After the change of my mindset, I feel relaxed and now I appreciate and am satisfied with my circumstance, there are a lot of chances to join international exchange programs including ISS program.

If you want to play an active role worldwide in the future, I think this program will help you so much!!
