UT Winners of ISS Summer Festival 2024 Visit OSU①

What left a particularly strong impression on me was the opportunity to participate in a Japanese language class. As part of the coursework, we were assigned Japanese texts to read in advance, which we later analyzed and discussed during the class. I was deeply impressed not only by the students’ proficiency in Japanese but also by the high level of the class, where we explored the meanings of four-character idioms and considered the implicit intentions not explicitly stated in the texts. Many of the students had either traveled to Japan or had a strong interest in Japanese culture, which made me feel a sense of closeness and allowed for enjoyable interactions.

Additionally, I observed that robot delivery services were widely utilized on the OSU campus. These robots appeared to be aware of human and vehicle movements, safely transporting meals even outdoors. Having taken “Introduction to ISS I & II” and PBL before visiting OSU, I was able to witness firsthand how the concept of an Inclusive Smart Society is being implemented at a practical level. In this way, the visit was highly meaningful as it allowed me to connect what I had learned in class with real-world applications.
