For the past eight days, I have been in Tsukuba learning about different aspects of Japanese culture and life.
I have attended several research talks and learned a lot about topics in fields ranging from geoscience to behavioral science.
I have also toured the University of Tsukuba campus and met many wonderful students studying there!
I was able to visit Tokyo, learning about what a larger city in Japan is like, and seeing how it differed from Tsukuba.
I really enjoyed visiting Miraikan and seeing an exhibit that showcased my research field in Japan!
Finally, I got the opportunity to climb Mount Tsukuba. I did this on my free day as I love nature and was recommended to do this by many students and professors.
It was such an amazing experience! Climbing Mount Tsukuba taught me a lot about Japanese culture through visiting shrines and temples and getting to visit the plum blossoms!
I’m very grateful that I was able to come and visit Tsukuba, it has been a truly transformative experience that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in learning about different cultures.
