UT Winners of ISS Summer Festival 2024 Visit OSU②

My life has been transformed through learning about cutting-edge technology in Ohio. For example, I visited a farm where efficient harvesting is taking place, learned about cutting-edge cultivation methods, and observed equipment in use. I also had the opportunity to visit Smart Columbus, which promotes the adoption of technology. I spoke with staff members about efforts to eliminate the information gap and learned about the seminars and technologies being introduced in Columbus. I strongly felt the attitude of universities, companies, and research institutes working closely together to promote technological development, and realized the importance of an environment that supports technological innovation.

During our exchange with OSU students, we discussed why train use has become so widespread in Japan (since it is rare in the U.S.), as well as the history of gothic lolita fashion and why people wear it. Through this exchange, we learned what kinds of interests American students have in Japan.

I was very impressed by the students’ eagerness to learn, especially their passion for their own research even as early as their first or second year of undergraduate study. Through this experience, I strongly felt that I, too, should engage in research and deepen my own learning during my limited time as a university student.
